⭐ Rating: 4.5 / 5
Best for: Home baristas, busy families, and anyone seeking café-quality coffee without the fuss.

This is my go to for REAL beeswax. Don’t be fooled by the China “organic beeswax “ for a lower price. That stuff is garbage and is not real wax !! I definitely recommend this company and products! –
Well thought out…. nice sleek design
This machine is fantastic. Very quiet grind. Shipping was good and on time. They thought of all the great things to notify you on display… when you need more water / need to empty ground container / need to empty drip pan. It rinses when switching drinks. The coffee pour raises for a tumbler. Overall a great purchase… worth the extra splurge!

Good Morning
I would not call myself a coffee person but a nice cup of cappuccino or ice latte is something that I’d never say NO. However, my husband, he’s a coffee lover. We have two separate coffee making machine -one that is regular coffee which you use on a daily basis and the other one for cappuccino or if any drink that needs frothed milk but there’s a lot of manual work so we decided to get this Philips fully automatic coffee machine.Arrived well nicely packaged. Most of the hardware is already installed. The size was a perfect fit in my coffee counter.Looks beautiful and goes with my kitchen decor as most of the appliances are black. The instruction manual are picture only but you scan the QR code, the videos have detailed instructions. Because the machine is so expensive $1000, I took time, watched all the videos before working on the machine. It was not a rocket science but takes about 30 minutes to know dos and don’t s.First, I just try making frothed milk. Good froth within few seconds. Some hot chocolate powder and Hot chocolate for my daughter.I did not use coffee beans. I use the ground coffee and make sure that you select the option of ground coffee prior to the drink because this changes quality of your coffee. I see a lot of people complaining in reviews that it just the water drips through coffee machine is most likely they are not selecting the ground coffee selection. Also, for drinks like espresso , cappuccino especially for first few uses, I would recommend using more ground coffee to make the drink stronger because in first few uses I also got just water dripping rather than any coffee. After a few trial and error, my cappuccino, espresso was how I desired. Warm and delicious. the coffee quality was good.Because it is fully automatic it’s very functional for day-to-day use and I love it so far. There is some noise when milk is being frothed but nothing unusual or loud that you cannot handle. There are separate videos of cleaning to be done on a daily basis and weekly basis to prevent Scaling.Cleaning was not hard after following those videos, but what I would recommend is cleaning your milk container once you finish using it. The reason is there is very small straw like piece that milk goes through under the pressure that causes frothing and if milk particles dries off, it may block. Not written anywhere just my thoughts as its very thin.Overall, my impression about this machine in my daily life- is it an absolute necessity ? NO. Even for coffee lovers -No at this price point but the ease and luxury it adds on not a total waste of money.

Really Good Coffee, Easy Maintenance
I’ve been looking for a coffee machine that does it all, and this one is a great option. It has a ton of different drink choices, and my fav, the Iced Coffee setting is really good, it actually tastes good and doesn’t just taste like watered-down hot coffee. For lattes, it makes a really creamy foam and is super easy to clean. I also love that the machine is so quiet, especially in the mornings. You get what you paid for. Great machine, perfect size and functionality.

Great machine with easy cleaning and maintenance
The media could not be loaded.
I’ve had the chance to use a number of automated espresso machines before, and this one from Philips stands out right away for how easy it is to set up. From the very first use, the machine essentially walked me through the process with clear, intuitive prompts on the touchscreen. It feels like they designed this for someone who doesn’t want to dig into a manual, and that’s a huge plus. The interface is very straightforward, and within minutes I had my first drink brewing without any hiccups. The design itself is sleek and modern, and it fits surprisingly well on the counter for how much functionality it offers. It’s reasonably quiet, and the top-loading grounds hopper and front-pulling water tank are both excellent design choices—especially for those of us who keep the machine under cabinets. Not having to wrestle with clearance to refill the water tank is a small but very appreciated detail. I was also impressed by the thoughtful inclusion of a pH test to calibrate the descaling timer, something I haven’t seen in other machines. That shows attention to long-term maintenance, which makes me more confident about the machine’s durability. My favorite feature by far is the milk frother system. Unlike many other machines where the milk system has to run an automatic rinse cycle after every use, this one is completely self-contained and can just be detached and rinsed in the sink. It makes the process of enjoying milk-based drinks so much more convenient and saves a lot of time. That said, the milk spout is positioned fairly high compared to the coffee dispenser, which can make it slightly less flexible in terms of cup placement. Still, the trade-off is worth it for the easy cleaning and hassle-free use. Finally, the sheer variety of drinks is impressive. Even beyond the quick-access drink buttons, the menu expands to cover options like flat white, Ristretto, Lungo, and more. Every single drink can be customized for volume and strength, and the machine conveniently saves your preferences for the next time you make the same selection. It feels intuitive, adaptable, and user-friendly without sacrificing sophistication. Overall, this Philips machine strikes a great balance between high-end features, everyday practicality, and ease of maintenance. For anyone who wants café-style drinks at home without a learning curve, this is a standout option

Great machine!
I am so glad that I have this machine which is bit expensive on one hand but makes some of the amazing coffees on the go in minutes.I was super excited to try out this machine and was feeling installation (setting up) would bother me but honestly there’s no big deal in doing so., it is super easy to set up and get going.Additionally, what I did was I just had typed the name of this machine exactly on youtube and it has an amazing video by phillips which explains setting up in detail…everyone who is buying this must watch that video.Secondly, I found this price point a little expensive but the amazing creamy texture of all the coffees just makes this machine likable and saves my money from going to fancy coffee shops.Coming to the cleaning part of this machine.., It is super super easy to do so and nothing that great to describe here as a process of doing it.All in all, best for those who like to have their coffee daily and wants it to taste the same every time they have it.

Up and running with a great cup of coffee in minutes!
Ok, I will admit, at first I was a bit intimidated to set this up, but it was so easy! The instructions were clear, the step by step electronic display prompts were easy to follow, and honestly the entire dashboard seems pretty intuitive to me. Just to be on the safe side, I did watch a few online videos for reference before getting started, but it wasn’t necessary after all. The whole process only took me about 15 minutes to set up, and I was ready to go with my first cup of coffee! :-)One thing I didn’t do, was to include the size of the drip tray when measuring my kitchen countertop before ordering… Oops! It turns out that my countertop does fit the machine itself (as stated in the product dimensions) but when I added the drip tray, it added several inches and hung over the side (I live in a small studio apartment, so kitchen space is limited). I wasn’t going to let that deter me, so I reorganized my countertop, stored some items away on a shelf, then turned the machine sideways on my countertop instead… Success! Now it fits perfectly, including the drip tray, it is still easy to use the controls, and to see the water level. Problem solved, and brushing my shoulders off. ;-)I don’t find the noise level intrusive at all, especially when compared to the super loud noise levels when baristas make coffee at the local coffee shop (sounds like a jet engine, haha). Of course, it is to be expected that this machine makes more noise than a regular drip coffee machine, due to its power and all of its many functions—but not so much that it disturbs me, nor do I have any concerns about disturbing my apartment neighbors. The frame of this machine is super sturdy and all of the materials are high quality, exactly what I would expect at this price point. Many of the components are stainless steel, and so far, I’ve seen quite a few pieces with markings showing they are dishwasher safe. Even so, it would only take a minute or two to rinse them off in the sink, which is what I plan to do (same idea as rinsing off the blades after using a blender). So far, I’ve only used the regular coffee setting with my regular ground coffee, just to get up and running. (I’ve added whole coffee beans to my grocery list, and am looking forward to this wonderful machine grinding them and filling my kitchen with an amazing aroma.) As I adventure into making fancier coffees with my plant based milks (I’m vegan) I will come back and add an update to this review. And in the meantime, I will enjoy yummy coffees, and enjoy saving money, by making them at home! 5 stars and recommend.

I Love This Machine
I love this Philips 5500 machine. We previously had a Keurig. While we really like the on demand cup of coffee, we found it to be too expensive and wasteful to justify using. We were using 5-6 pods a day. We switched to a drip coffee maker but the quality of the coffee wasn’t very good. I purchased a separate grinder which was an improvement to having to buying preground beans but the coffee was still pretty average.Set Up:Super easy. Rinse the parts, prepare the Aquaclean filter. Assemble and it’s ready to go.As the instructions indicate, you will need to brew at least 5 cups before the machine regulates itself. It comes out very watery.Don’t worry, it does adjust.Ease of use:This machine has 15+ coffee options, several of which I had to Google. Being a latte drinker I do find it odd that the machines name is LatteGo, yet I have to go to the ‘more drinks’ option to pick a hot latte. But it’s fine. The coffee comes out so smooth and delicious.Noise:This is not a quiet machine compared to coffee makers. It may be quieter than other espresso makers or other Philips machines but I have no point of reference. It’s not obnoxiously loud but it’s certainly not quiet. You do get used to it.Cleaning:The milk hopper is super easy to use and clean. If you have extra milk, you can throw it in the fridge until your next cup. I throw out any remaining milk at the end of the day and wash it. Once through the machine option then I give the hopper a good rinse under the faucet and let it air dry over night. Super easy. In fact the whole machine is easy to clean. I don’t find it to be any more involved then my previous machine and grinder. It will remind you when the grounds need emptied, the beans or water need refilled. I clean the brew group weekly (run it under water and air dry (and purchased coffee remover tabs and run one through once a month. I will probably descale every couple of months and replace the aquaclean filter as soon as indicated, to ensure optimal performance. The brew group does need periodically greased but I have yet to need to.Easily Customizable:It’s been fun experimenting with different brew settings. I don’t always want a very milky latte so sometimes I make it stronger with less milk. Sometimes I want it more creamy. You can brew a shot of espresso first before your latte or you can add an additional shot of ristretto, etc… the milk comes out very frothy. We use whole milk. I haven’t tried any plant based milks so I can’t review those. The espresso comes out creamy and smooth. Buy quality beans. We prefer Lavazza but Im sure there are plenty of options to suit your preference.Price:There are a bunch of espresso machines on the market. While I’m having fun experimenting with different brews because it’s new, I have no interest in being a coffee connoisseur. I ultimately want a good cup of coffee with little fuss and this machine delivers that. Compared to the prices other espresso machines, it’s an affordable option that produces a great cup of coffee.Whether it’s worth splurging on compared to a drip coffee maker depends on your relationship with coffee. How much do you love drinking it and how often do you drink it. Do I think it is worth it over a Keurig? Absolutely. Do I now enjoy my coffee compared to a drip maker? Yes.The main thing with this – or any – machine, always clean your machine and use quality beans.I highly recommend this machine.
