Simple, budget-friendly machine. Makes hot delicious coffee when we want it, every single time.
This affordable coffee maker is a gem, and that opinion comes from a pair of coffee-crazy coffee maker buying experts. We have spent a small fortune on coffee machines, always in pursuit of THE ONE, from an expensive industrial always on restaurant size Bunn because we were hoping for all stainless steel and no plastic, to everything in between. What we have learned, the hard way, is that spending a lot of money on a coffee maker does NOT equal a more delicious cup of coffee than a budget friendly machine like this. And pursuing a plastic-free machine that makes yummy coffee is like hunting for snipe. What we get with this machine, what I personally get as the setter-upper, is a straightforward ease of use machine that makes a delicious very hot cup of coffee, on a timer! no less, so that when our dogs wake us up at 2 am, as they do every day (that’s another story), the blessed coffee is inside the carafe beckoning to me, whispering…Forget about your happy dreams and your cozy bed with the satin pillow cases, Come hither…It is far and away the first quiet coffee maker we have ever owned, and we have owned soooo very many. No obnoxious buzzer. Just the near perfect silence of filtered water dripping over aromatic coffee. You can set the timer or not. The button is titled Brew Later. I use a magnifying glass because the am/pm in the upper right corner is ludicrously minuscule. So minuscule I still sometimes get it wrong. You can make a full pot or just enough. You can steal a cup during the brewing. This works better for us when we use a large Bunn paper filter, because the coffees we enjoy are finely ground. If we use a permanent filter they flow over and end up clogging things up.It even shuts off automatically so you never have to give it a second thought or worry. And you can buy a permanent gold tone filter that fits like a glove.I am currently using half Starbucks medium roast decaf with half gorgeous Seattles Best Portside Blend caffeinated ground coffee. I just pour the bags of coffee into a jar together. (We recently bought a Kitchenaid Cold Brew coffee maker so I want to get Starbucks Sumatra whole beans to grind for that. See! I told you we are coffee crazy!!). I cannot wait to make Sumatra fresh ground coffee in this machine. But I should mention it does better with a coarser grind. By the way decaf coffee has made giant leaps and bounds!! over the years. Who knew? the benefits of coffee without all the caffeine. After we enjoy our coffee in the wee hours, with our furry little stinkers, I set up the machine for the next day and push the Brew Later button once. Just the push of the timer button and I know I have another cup of joy to look forward to. If you accidentally push it more than once, it doesn’t matter. Still works.Tips: Do not overfill with coffee grounds, especially if they are Finely ground. The filter cup needs a bit of space between the spout and the grounds. We are comfortable making 10 cups. I believe I use a 1/3 measuring cup that I leave in the coffee jar, 3 scoops to a pot. Also, if you steal a cup during brewing, it won’t have had time to get very hot, especially if it is being poured into a cold cup. And if you overfill the basket, you will clog it up and the stealing a cup option becomes a small clean up operation. The machine tells you when it is time to run the Clean cycle. I simply add vinegar and water and press the Clean button. Afterwards I run a pot of water through it and Voila! Clean Machine.Update: We are hooked on freshly ground coffee of late. I found an inexpensive mess-free grinder on Amazon and we have been swooning this week over Seattle’s Best Portside Blend. It is a smooth, medium roast coffee that starts our day (or night) with the taste of coffee perfection.

Better than expected
What’s life without coffee? My old pot died and they don’t sell it anymore. I survived the coffee apocalypse with my French Press and espresso machine (go ahead and judge) while searching for a viable replacement for my morning support device. It turns out, that in spite of the cheaper price, I like this machine more than the one I had previously. The carafe works as well to keep the coffee hot, but the opening is much larger so I can get my hands inside to clean and dry.I usually use paper filters, but the provided reusable filter really works well without letting through the dust particles other filters have.It has the ‘Strong’ brew setting, which I use and appreciate. The water delivery arm seems to work so much better than the machines that just spray water out of the top cover. The water container is large and easy to fill.I like that the water route is sealed from beginning to end (cover closes tightly, the pot is sealed so no exposure to air allowing it to cool). The one thing that I find a little odd, but it’s no deal breaker, is figuring out when it’s finished brewing. Since the pot isn’t on a heating element, I expected that the brew light would turn off when it’s finished, but it doesn’t. It does stop its slow ‘flashing’, but you’d have to stare at it for a couple of seconds to realize that. Instead, the better indicator is that the clock display changes from showing the time of day, to beginning a countdown from 120 minutes, so if it reads 117, you know it finished brewing 3 minutes ago. I think it’s a completely unnecessary feature, but it certainly doesn’t distract from the overall design.

Day 1…just out of the box but I THINK/HOPE I’m in love.
Seems to be a solid unit COMPARED to what else is out there. I absolutely could not find a quality 4 or 5 cup coffee maker without spending either $200 or buying vintage on another popular site. I bought 2 (5 cup coffee makers) over a period of time and they both came with broken plastic parts. I don’t need something fancy but well built is a big thing for me. This unit has a smaller profile considering the style of coffee maker it is. I’m in my first apartment so this is important as I also have a reverse osmosis water machine that needs to go on that same counter area. I tested it very brieflly last night and the coffee stayed hot for a few hours and then I went to bed. It was stone cold in the morning. Reviews say it keeps hot for very extended periods (one review mentioned it stayed at a good drinking temp for 12 hours). I drink decaf coffee combined with roasted french chicory root (find it on amazon) and I can hopefully just brew one pot a day. Update if needed. The design seems great. I may learn to appreciate the capacity if I can do one brew (one and done) in the morning. Durability remains to be seen. With only two quick trial brews it does possibly appear that the “strong” feature does as it claims. I believe in simplicity as a designer myself. The cleaning feature (every 60 uses…2 months in my case) also remains to be seen.

The Greatest Coffee Pot ever owned.
I’ve been using the BLACK+DECKER 12 Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker for a while now, and I’m thrilled with how it’s transformed my morning routine and even my camping adventures. This is a pretty and sleek, black-and-silver machine, that features a stainless steel thermal carafe with a four-layer vacuum seal, keeps my coffee hot for EASILY up to two hours while staying cool to the touch. Its Vortex Technology, programmable brewing options, and user-friendly digital controls make it a standout in my kitchen. Priced between $50 and $100, it delivers premium features like a brew strength selector, a fresh brew timer, and a no-drip spout at a budget-friendly cost, making it an absolute gem for coffee lovers like me who value quality and convenience. The coffee this machine brews is consistently delicious, thanks to the Vortex Technology, which evenly saturates the grounds for rich, full-bodied flavor. Whether I’m craving a bold morning kick or a smoother cup, the brew strength selector lets me customize each pot perfectly. I love how the machine reaches the ideal brewing temperature of 195° to 205°F, as noted by reviewers, ensuring every sip is packed with flavor. The LCD display’s fresh brew timer is a thoughtful touch, showing me exactly how long it’s been since my coffee was brewed—up to 120 minutes—so I know it’s still at its peak. One morning, I brewed a pot at 7 a.m., and by 10 a.m., it was still piping hot, which is a game-changer for my busy days. The programmable features make my life so much easier. I can set the 24-hour auto-brew timer the night before, and waking up to the aroma of fresh coffee is pure bliss. The digital controls are intuitive, with large, clearly marked buttons for setting brew strength, batch size (including a 1-4 cup option for smaller batches), and the timer. I’ve found the 1-4 cup setting perfect for when I’m brewing just for myself without sacrificing flavor. The Auto Clean system is another lifesaver, alerting me when it’s time to run a cleaning cycle with vinegar, keeping the machine in top shape with minimal effort. One user mentioned, “Set it up the night before, and you wake up to that smell of freshly brewed coffee,” which perfectly sums up my experience. For camping, this coffeemaker is a dream. Its compact size (9 x 7.75 x 14.25 inches) fits easily in my RV, and the thermal carafe is a godsend for keeping coffee hot during chilly mornings by the campfire. I’ve taken it on weekend trips, and the no-drip Perfect Pour spout means I can pour coffee into my mug without spilling a drop, even on uneven campsite tables. The carafe’s wide mouth makes it easy to clean with a damp towel, and the removable, dishwasher-safe brew basket simplifies cleanup after muddy outdoor adventures. I once brewed a full 12-cup pot (each cup is about 5 ounces) for a group of friends at a campsite, and everyone was amazed at how hot and fresh it stayed for hours.Maintenance is a breeze, which I appreciate as someone with a packed schedule. The washable brew basket is compatible with reusable filters like the GOLDTONE, saving me money on paper filters and making cleanup quick. The carafe’s wide opening allows me to wipe it down easily, and the machine’s Auto Shutoff feature gives me peace of mind, turning off automatically after brewing. I also love the durability of the stainless steel carafe—it’s sturdy, and the vacuum seal ensures it keeps my coffee at 154°F or hotter for hours,The only minor downside is the LCD screen isn’t backlit but that is no big deal.I love this pot and its features and functions.

Solid Coffee Maker
There are several things I like about this coffee maker compared to others. First, the metal carafe is not so prone to break as glass ones. Second, I like that the carafe is insulted keeping coffee warm without a hot-plate (which also appears to reduce power usage). Third, the reservoir is much easier to clean since it isn’t so deep. Fourth, the controls, which are perhaps a little lackluster in terms of options, are very simple to use.

From many options, one great decision!!!
I am an avid researcher when making a purchase, especially when it’s as critical as our daily coffee supply- lol! So when our third rather expensive Keurig died very early I decided we’d spend no more money on that brand. I was looking for the versatility of brewing a whole pot or a smaller portion AND the idea of a thermal carafe instead of a hot plate was very appealing. I looked at many, many brands and models ranging in price from $ to $$$. I read reviews, I watched videos, I looked up anything and everything I could. This little machine continued to offer features that I really liked without bells and whistles I would rarely use. We are a plain yet picky coffee drinking household and we nurse a pot all day long (one of us is day shift and the other night shift so it’s always “morning wake up time” around here). As one who nputs milk in their coffee, I’ll admit to being doubtful that I’d find a coffeemaker with a thermal carafe that would maintain a drinkable temperature (once milk was added to the cup) for very long and I hate microwaving my coffee. So I read reviews saying this carafe “kept coffee hot for hours” with a strong dose of skepticism. WOW! Has this exceeded expectations! Four hours after brewing the very last cup of the pot was still quite hot enough to steam and be very nicely drinkable after I added the milk. So, here is my run down of the lovely features this model offers:1. Capacity – It holds a full 12 cups which gets us through a day here. Everyone should remember that a “cup” when measuring coffee is actually 5oz. and not 8oz. So 60 oz. of water goes in and 60 oz. of coffee comes out (yes, the engineer in the house measured) which is more than our much more $$ Keurig could ever say.2. Ease of Use – The brew, size and programming options are quite straightforward to operate, not only in compexity but in button size and readablity, which is helpful when my elderly father wants to help prepare the next mornings coffee.3. Build Quality and Design – The machine fits easily under my kitchen cabinets, and takes up much less counter space than my Keurig. The markings on the water reservoir are easy to see. TIP: Do use a pitcher other than the carafe to fill the reservoir, not because the carafe doesn’t pour well (IT POURS GREAT!), but because it is just easier if you are working under cabinets to pour from something smaller.4. The carafe – This could go under design, but it’s honestly such a great feature it deserves its own note. It is clearly a quality thermal container and very easy to pour from and it’s wide mouth when you take the lid off makes it extremely easy to clean (no need for that narrow brush when washing, you can get your entire hand in there, even my husband’s larger hands find it easy to clean). And here is the tip that I’ve been most grateful for from other reviews: After brewing is complete, REMOVE the carafe from the coffeemaker tray. When it is on the tray the “brew through” feature of the lid is automatically open slightly (to allow for brewing) and I’m sure this could speed heat loss. We simply take the pot and move it over to the counter and hours later it’s still plenty hot, yet the cool-touch handle and sides of the carafe are not too warm to handle easily. We have not needed to put a hotpad underneath the carafe when on the counter. Also, the spout pours nice and neatly, unlike other coffeemakers we’ve had where you were cleaning up drips each time you poured a cup.All this to say, if you want a quality, easy to use and easy to maintain machine AND actual value for your money, purchase this machine! I’m so glad I did!!!

3rd one we have owned and would get again in a heartbeat.
This is the third one we have owned (first one purchased through Amazon) – After daily use for a number of years our old one no longer brewed the coffee hot enough and the carafe didn’t keep it warm. I did a comparison test and this new one definitely works well. The coffee brewed at 184.3° F. After 1.5 hours it was at 173.4° and after another 1.5 hours (3 hours from brewing) it was at 165.2°F, so a still drinkable temperature. For comparison our old one only brewed at 175.5°F, 147.1°F after 1.5 hours and 127.7°F after 3 hours. This coffee maker is quite a bit less than then next model that has a thermal carafe so is definitely worth the money. It doesn’t have any fancy bells or whistles but does have a strong setting that I always use as well as a delay brew setting that has always worked correctly.

Second one and if the time comes, I’ll buy another….
When I needed a new coffee maker 5 or so years ago I walked into Walmart and picked up one of these bad boys. It served me well as a long time daily drip coffee drinker. So it only made sense to get another when I moved into my new home and found myself needing yet another coffee maker. The stainless steel carafe is hard to come by on modern coffee makers which was a huge selling point for me. Can’t go wrong here.

Reliable Coffee Maker
I love this coffee maker! First saw this in a beach house we rented. Of course it had been put through it’s paces and was still functioning very well. I like the strong brew option and the aluminum carafe. I keep it clean and only use filtered water. NOTE: As mentioned in the instructions, warm the carafe with hot water prior and your coffee will be piping hot! The machine also has a count down timer after the brewing stops to offer the freshest beverage. Some report leaks…I’m not sure where but, I allow mine to completely brew before indulging and I don’t have that issue. It does have a pause and serve option as well. I keep my coffee maker clean and that helps. I hope this review helps.
