Slick machine, but there are some drawbacks
The first thing I will preface this review with is that it is a review of a free item. That said, it’s a great (and slick coffee maker). However, I am hesitant to actually recommend it given the very high cost (and I will explain why. This is a pretty cool machine. I love coffee, even have a dedicated coffee bar in the kitchen. I really like being able to just dump whole beans in the top and letting it do the rest. The way it self cleans and dumps the grounds cleanly into the little container is honestly impressive. However, the primary issue I have noticed is there is a serious issue with consistency. I provided 2 images of coffee in a measuring cup. The first is from an attempt to brew 16 oz (got less than 8). I followed that up with an attempt to brew 8 oz (and got exactly 8). This wouldn’t necessarily bother me, since usually I brew into a mug and then dump it into a travel cup or over ice. However, for a machine this expensive, it should be able to deliver. It also affects the coffee taste, as the one that was under volume was way too strong. My other complaint (minor), as that many of my mugs don’t fit on the mug shelf (see image). Only smaller cups do. Its fine to sit on the bottom, but it does splash a bit (and seems like this was designed based on ‘diner-like’ small coffee mugs (of which I have 0 at home – they are all larger mugs like the image).Otherwise, the coffee maker is great. I only had a k-cup machine (I have pour over, French press, etc), so I couldn’t do an entire pot of coffee in the past. While I rarely need the feature, it is nice when family is over. Just keep in mind it takes a while as it has to grind and brew a few times. Still, you don’t have to interact with it after hitting ‘brew’. The machine is generally intuitive and easy to use. I really enjoy how easy it makes cleaning up the grounds (getting them out of the reusable k cups is messy and annoying). It’s also nice that you can use the ‘bypass’ option and use pre-ground coffee (if you want something flavored). That said, I really enjoy freshly ground coffee, and like that the lid (more or less) seals to keep the beans in the hopper fresh.Overall I really do like this machine, but like I said earlier, it’s hard to justify the price given the inconsistency. Otherwise its a pretty slick coffee maker and looks great as the new centerpiece of my coffee bar.

Customer service review
I highly recommend this company for their customer service. I received the Delonghi True Drip through the Amazon Vine program. Unfortunately, something was wrong with the machine because the pumps couldn’t successfully complete the priming cycle. Priming is a requirement to set up and use the coffee maker. I contacted Delonghi to see if they could troubleshoot but none of their ideas fixed the issue. I was told they were escalating my case and to go ahead and pack up the machine for a return. I got a form letter by email that evening stating the same. That was a Thursday. I didn’t hear from them over the weekend so Monday first thing I replied to the email to check the status. Within the morning they emailed back to inform me that they were prepared to send me a replacement unit, but no more True Drip machines were in stock and they didn’t have an estimate for when they would be available again. They offered to send me an alternative model with similar features. I was thrilled because the model they offered seemed like an even better fit for me than the True Drip. I emailed back and forth with questions and concerns I had, and the customer service team resolved everything promptly and my new machine was on the way by the middle of the week. I was pleasantly surprised when the machine arrived well before the 5-7 business days they estimated by email. I did have to reach out again because I still had the True Drip packed away for a return. They promptly sent over a prepaid shipping label for me to print. It took me a month to finally get around to returning it (giant box, extra errand), but the Delonghi people and their shipping partner gave me no issues. I consider this overall to be a very positive experience with customer support because they had clear communication and a favorable outcome. The new coffee machine (from the Magnifica Evo line) is pretty great; I have a couple nitpicks with the design, but I still love it and it makes excellent coffee and espresso.

Bean There, Brewed That — Worth the Buzz (Literally)
The media could not be loaded.
I bought this De’Longhi TrueBrew in January 2025, fully expecting a coffee catastrophe based on the “meh” reviews. But spoiler alert — this thing slaps. It’s like having a tiny, slightly obnoxious barista living on your counter.Yes, it’s loud. When it grinds, my dog hides, and my family assumes the house is being remodeled. But once the symphony of beans and gears ends, what comes out is glorious. Smooth, rich, freshly ground coffee that makes my old Keurig taste like hot sadness. The best part? No pods. No plastic waste. Just beans, water, and a smug sense of environmental superiority. If De’Longhi ever adds an external water hookup, it’ll be unstoppable.Four stars — because it’s noisy, not because it’s bad. I’d rather have a loud genius than a quiet disappointment.

Makes my mornings that much better
LOUD! The clicks and clanks really surprised me as I did not expect it to be that loud but like all things, you will eventually get use to it and it does seem to be getting quieter bit by bit (not sure if its just me). Also using ground coffee can be a little bit messy on the inside and outside as not all the grounds will go into the funnel so you’ll eventually have to use a brush or something to clean it all up.Without a doubt, this goes best with fresh whole beans to get the best taste. The 3 different strength settings I can only assume change the ratio between water and coffee (couldn’t find any information about it with the instructions). There is without a doubt a difference between the settings and I ended up just leaving it on gold. One main concern is the beans that end up just being left out in the open if they don’t get grinded for your cup. Ideally I would just scoop the beans back and put it back into appropriate storage but the design makes it difficult to do that. What I found is every 4 oz of coffee will use about a scoop of the ground scoop that came with the machine, that way you can minimize the beans that are left out in the open (a little more or less depending on what strength setting you’re using). I use to use a pour over for my coffee but I eventually got to a point where I wanted it automated in the end lol my specialty coffee still taste really good with this and I’m more than content. Dumping the waste water and grounds is super simple. One thing I need to test is if it’s necessary to change the water temperature setting, It seems completely fine on setting 2 but some testing should be considered for best results.

This machine makes the most AMAZING cup of coffee!
This machine makes the most AMAZING cup of coffee! It’s smooth and full bodied. Absolutely delicious. We’ve been using Black Rifle coffee and it’s way better than most coffee shops. And for the complaints I’ve read about how difficult it is to clean, that’s nonsense. It takes 30 seconds to rinse out the containers and dump the grinds! Well worth it for the quality of the cup of coffee this machine produces.

Great coffee-Bold is truly bold!
The coffee is delicious. There is a learning curve. We have been able to make good whole bean drinks, but the first brew with preground coffee every time is weak and cold. The second is great. Seeking info on this and will update my review is we can get it fixed!

Great and Convenient Coffee with a Few Quirks
First off, this is a big machine—tall and fairly deep—so check the measurements before buying to make sure it fits your space. That said, it’s much better than a Keurig in my opinion. Using whole beans makes a noticeable difference in flavor compared to K-Cups, and it’s really easier than a Keurig as you just press a button and get freshly brewed coffee. The TrueBrew is simple to use but lacks customization to a fault. For example, I often make 8 oz cups, but sometimes the machine fills the cup fully, and other times it noticably lower (like 6-8oz). There’s no real way to adjust the water or grind settings beyond the presets, so occasionally the coffee can taste a little watery. It seems to have gotten a little better with more use, but was noticably too watery in my opinion (even on bold). The carafe function works but is slow, since the machine essentially brews in multiple cycles. If you plan to make pots of coffee daily, a traditional drip brewer might be a better fit. But having the convience of a hot cup any time with the occasional hosted breakfast/brunch, this is great.Maintenance is pretty easy, though the plastic containers can be fiddly to fit back in, and I do wonder how the durability will hold up long-term. The bean hopper design is my biggest frustration—it has a plastic screen that makes it difficult to swap out beans or clean the grinder. If you like switching between decaf and regular, it’s inconvenient. Also this does not make a true espresso (it doesn’t reach the pressure needed), but the “espresso-style” option is just a smaller, stronger cup of coffee. I didnt get any crema. It also can’t dispense just hot water, which would’ve been great for tea drinkers.Overall, I’d say this gives you about 85% of barista-level coffee with only 10% of the effort. It’s not perfect, but for convenience and good flavor at the push of a button, it’s a great option—especially if you mostly want single cups from fresh beans and reduce the waste.
