So far so good. Easy to use.
This thing makes terrific espressos and is really easy to use, at least for basic functions. It came with 8 different coffee and 4 different espresso capsules. No measuring the water – the machine knows exactly how much water to use based on the code on the capsule – there is only one button to press. I haven’t tried adjusting the water volume for the capsule type but the instructions make it look pretty easy.It wasn’t immediately obvious, to us anyway, about the two clear plastic reservoirs. The one on the left is for the water. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the one on the right is where the machine chucks the spent capsules when you open it to put in the next one. Really clean and convenient – you don’t even have to touch it. So far there are about 7 capsules in there so it looks like it’ll hold about 30 before you need to empty it.It makes a really rich foam for the espressos. If the machine is cold, you need to wait a minute to get a coffee, but if it’s still hot from the last one it cranks out the next one almost immediately.Only thing that irked me a little was that the adjustable stand for the cup needs to be secured well – it can SEEM to be in place, but then when the weight of a full cup is on it it can fall off. You need to make sure it’s on good.Update – had it about one month and I’m really happy with it. Still always re-checking the stand if I’ve adjusted it to make sure it’s on. It’s probably made 150 coffee/espressos by now and it’s chugging along fine. I always fill it (or any coffee maker) with distilled water, as the scale buildup with distilled water is zero, and you can go much longer before a cleaning cycle.Update again July 2020. It’s been 19 months and this thing has been terrific. Never a problem at all. Cleaning needs are rare because we always use distilled water. We’ve probably run 1,500 pods through this thing (we have a lot of house guests) and it’s never failed. Couldn’t be happier with it.Updated AGAIN June 2021. It’s now been 2.5 years and maybe 2,500 pods and still goin’ strong. I probably should clean it more than I do, but as I mentioned, I always use distilled water, so there’s never any scaling at all and it’s easy to forget about because it always looks clean.Updated AGAIN January 2024. More than 5 years and thousands of espressos and coffees, I still have nothing to complain about. Terrific machine.

Take a sip on the wild side
We decided to take the plunge with this machine in the hopes that we could stop buying coffee on the go and start saving a little money. When ordering coffee straight from Nespresso there are some pretty nice deals and the costs are pretty low compared to buying coffee on the run. Eventually the costs saved from buying out will pay for this setup. Think $3-6 per drink vs the .85 cents to $1.20 per drink for the Nespresso. So far this machine has delivered some really yummy espresso, Americanos and regular coffee. Waiting on the syrups to arrive before we get all fancy and mix things up a little.Espresso Summary: There is a big difference in the level 4 intensity espresso and the level 11 intensity espresso pods as far as the color and flavor are concerned. Both are excellent and have a time and place. There is a nice crema on the top as you’ve probably seen in videos or reviews which can be nice if you want to add an extra little zing on top such as cheyenne pepper and cocoa powder or cinnamon depending on the roast.(I went with the Evaryl Double Wall Espresso Cups Set which are pretty great for serving a straight shot of espresso.)Espresso Double-Shot Summary: These are ok but I don’t get much of a difference in flavor between the two options available from Nespresso. They are supposed to be a little more flavorful when used with milk which I haven’t attempted as of yet.Coffee Summary: I haven’t noticed too much of a difference in the coffee cup size flavor profiles drinking them straight. They aren’t bland but they definitely aren’t as flavorful as a nice darkroast made via French press. My wife uses creamer with the coffee and sometimes uses the vanilla or caramel flavor pods.Americano Summary: The Americano pod sizes are excellent and sometimes I’ll put another shot of espresso in one just for kicks. These are one of my favorites right now.Aeroccino 3 Summary: We haven’t used the frother because we don’t have any syrups to mix with the milk / coffee to get the full effect. Will update the review once we give that a whirl. We wanted to make sure we enjoyed the coffee before going “all in” on ordering things. All of the pods produce a hot coffee that could burn your tongue if you try to drink it too fast. It’s not 200 degree hot which is really nice because it’s drinkable in about 5 minutes. The machine isn’t whisper quiet but you can put a rubber mat underneath to absorb the vibrations from the centrifuge spinning up.The first unit I received had a broken water tank which would normally turn me off from the product but I was determined to give it a try and hopefully save money down the road. Got a three year Square Trade Warranty just in case. Some of the parts feel cheap but there are more expensive units out there. I can only assume the more expensive units are a little quieter and use better materials.Last thing: If you order coffee pods from Nespresso you can add recycling bags for free to your order that come with pre-paid UPS shipping. We don’t feel like we’re being totally wasteful which is a nice touch.I don’t work for Nespresso and paid for this with my own money. We’re all different so you may like it and you might not.

Care for a great cup of coffee
Coffee never tasted better. I have Kreiug and a friend recommended that I give it a go. I like black coffee…this bad boy delivers! It provides as a bonus foaming goodness…my only regret…why did I not know about this earlier!Ps it brews much faster than the kreiug

Not for Keurig Lovers
If you like really hot coffee made in a Keurig where boiling water is forced through a plastic pod or made in a Mr. Coffee pot where boiling water is dripped over pre-ground coffee out of a bag and then left to sit on a hot pad until you get around to pouring a cup, this machine and the cost of the coffee pods is not for you. If you drink your coffee out of a paper cup or insulated mug while driving to work, Nespresso is probably not worth your time. If, on the other hand, you enjoy relaxing and savoring a cup of really good coffee, this is the one you should consider. The Nespresso machine is designed to make a precisely brewed cup of coffee not to produce a boiling hot cup of Joe. Each Nespresso pod has a bar code that tells the machine exactly how to custom brew that particular coffee. It knows how fast to spin the extractor, the correct temperature, and the amount of water to use. So, if you use a room temperature cup the coffee might end up a little cooler than you are used to drinking. I just put a little water in my cup and microwave it for a minute to preheat, and then I dump the hot water and brew my Nespresso. That way the cup doesn’t cool off my coffee.I bought the De’Longhi ENV135BAE Coffee and Espresso Machine Bundle with Aeroccino Milk Frother. The milk frother is a great addition and much less expensive when bought with the machine. It is simple to use and clean, and it quickly produces a nice froth. IMHO well worth the price. The machine comes with an assortment of twelve pods of different coffee flavors, intensities, and sizes. So far I have tried half of them and have yet to zero in on one favorite. They are all good in their own way. You won’t find the pods in your grocery store. You will have to order online, but they are available from Amazon and Nespresso and at the same price with free shipping. Pods come in sleeves of ten, and you will probably find it most convenient to order forty or fifty at a time. So, if you object to spending $50 or more at a time for coffee, don’t invest in a Nespresso. If you like gourmet coffee with crema, Nespresso will take your enjoyment of coffee brewed at home to a whole new level. The machine is a lot less expensive and easier to use than purchasing your own traditional espresso machine, and in my opinion, the coffee drinks produced are on a par with what I have had in Italy where they take their coffee really serious. The machine came quickly, and the setup instructions were easy to follow. One of the Amazon reviewers had posted a picture of a hairline crack in the bottom of their water tank. As a result, I took a close look and found a similar very small crack in my tank. I called the 24-7 Nespresso help line, and since my machine was only two days old, they are shipping me a no cost replacement. It was shipped within two hours of my call. If you buy a machine check it carefully as anything considered normal wear and tear is not covered by the warranty.Operation of the machine is really easy. You press the button and wait fifteen seconds for the machine to preheat and the button to stop flashing. While that is occurring you fill the water container with fresh tap water and put your cup in place (I recommend preheating the cup). You then turn the knob to open the machine and you put in a pod. You then close the machine and turn the handle to lock it closed. Finally, you repress the button, and the machine will do its thing. After brewing is complete, you reopen the machine, and it ejects the spent pod into the side container. The container holds over a dozen spent pods. So, you don’t have to touch the spent pods after each cup of coffee. If you order your coffee from Nespresso they will send you a free package for free UPS shipping of the spent pods for recycling. Since the pods are made out of aluminum, they are not biodegradable, and Nestle is providing a no-cost way to recycle (if you so desire).

Distilled water works great
We started using this Christmas 2021, and have used nothing but LeBleu distilled water for brewing. About every 6 months, I run the cleaning cycle with 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water, then rinse several times, and we have had no problems. If you are running hard water through your Nespresso, then the descaling solution might be worth it, but only for hard water brewing. If you are brewing with distilled or soft to medium water, don’t waste your money on the descaling solution, just use the vinegar solution like I do. My wife and I prefer the taste of coffee with LeBleu distilled water, and so does the local coffee shop where my son was a barista for a while. I have to order all my Nespresso cups online. I have not found any Nespresso Vertuo cups at any of the local grocery stores. If you want a choice of hundreds of different roasts or flavors, and the ability to buy K-cups at any grocery store, Keurig is way to go. Just be sure to never remove the water reservoir while a K-cup is brewing. The Keurig will be broken beyond repair if you do this. Overall, I am happy with the quality of Nespresso, but I think I would have gone with Keurig just for the variety of K-cups. P.S. I have just found that Nespresso has a few more flavors that I can order

Quality and Conviece without the KCup Guilt
I want to give it 10 stars! I’ve only had it 5 days and I’m in love! Never going back to a regular coffee pot or wasteful Kuerig, that doesn’t even make good quality coffee. Many positive things about the Nespresso; 1) nice and sleek design looks great on the countertop 2) used pods fall automatically into a container when you open it to insert a new pod, this is especially great since my husband would just leave the used KCups on the countertop cuz walking over to the garbage can is just too much effort in the morning 😉 3) great tasting coffee and espresso for $1.10 per cup 4) they recycle the aluminum pods and the coffee grounds get turned into compost, no guilt like with the Kuerig! 5) quick and convenientSome things to note; you can only get the approved recycling bags if you order your coffee from Nespresso, but they are free of charge and are prelabled so you don’t pay for shipping them back. Even though I ❤️ Amazon, I recommend ordering your pods directly through Nespresso for that reason as well as they are actually 10¢ per pod cheaper and do offer free shipping with orders over $50, which is only 5 sleeves of coffee. To address some of the other reviewers issues with the coffee not being hot enough, I think that’s just personal preference, I hate burn your toungue scalding coffee. I want it to be hot but ready to drink, I don’t want to have to wait for it to cool as I do with Starbucks. And you can always put it in the microwave or a travel cup to keep it hot longer. Another issue I saw from previous reviewers is that the Aeroccino milk frother doesn’t do a good job. I did some research on that since I initially had the same problem. Fresh cold milk is key, and higher fat content will froth better. Don’t fill the frother past the little ”globe” part of the whisking mechanism, see pics. When I made these adjustments the milk frothed perfectly. I also tried almond and coconut milk and both will froth just fine. And lastly the only slightly negative is that it is louder than I expected, but only for a few seconds at the end of brewing while the centrifuge is working. I very highly recommend the Nespresso, I chose this model over the newer one since it was lower in price (at least in some colors) and there didn’t seem to be any difference in technology only in the exterior appearance of it. I also didn’t care that the newer one has a water container that swivels so it can be placed next to or behind the machine. Etremly happy with my purchase! 😁

Become a Barista with the push of a button…almost!
The media could not be loaded.
The Nespresso Vertuo is amazing! When it makes a cup of coffee or espresso, etc. there is froth at the top. In my photos, with the glass, this is a double espresso. There’s a photo of the cup by itself to show the completed double espresso size. In the video, I could only get the start of the brewing to keep it under 30 seconds. The video shows how to insert the pod and how long it takes from when you put the pod in, how long it takes to start brewing. It’s fast.If you want to get the true experience of making cappuccinos or lattes, you might want to purchase a milk frother. The only downside for me is that the Nespresso machine doesn’t make the coffee as hot as I’d like it. But it’s hot enough.I like this size Nespresso due to the water tank is the largest out of all the models. The water tank is on the left and the area to catch the used pods is on the right. I love that the Nespresso pods are aluminum and not plastic and you can recycle them. Nespresso will provide bags to ship the pods to recycle them.We like the taste of the coffee, it’s brews nicely and there’s a variety of flavors to choose from as well as different sizes.
