Love it, use it, wish I bought one sooner.

Convenient and attractive. Just don’t over fill the ground coffee canister! We only use whole bean coffee every morning and this device is a game changer. It has much more variety is grind choices, is actually quieter than a blade grinder. I’ve had another brand of burr grinder and it quit working after only two uses. This OXO grinder has worked flawlessly for several months. If you overfill the receiving cannister you will have a very frustrating and cuss-inducing time of it as the thing will get completely clogged up and require a lot of digging and using a bent straw brush to unplug the discharge shoot… and I knew that ahead of time, but didn’t keep a close eye on how much I was grinding. The timer feature is great. The whole bean hopper will actually hold about 4 cups of beans if you are going to grind more coffee than you need for a single pot like we do… I grind enough for 3-4 mornings and keep the ground coffee an air-tight container, just like I store my whole beans. It is attractive enough to stay on my counter top in the corner next to our coffee brewer.

    Perfect coffee grounds

Well made product that’s easy to use, fast and hassle free. Grinds coffee perfectly. The grounds are all uniform in shape and helps the coffee taste and brew better. It looks good sitting on the counter and it has made my morning routine better. Perfect functionality and it fits under my cabinets perfectly. It seems heavy and well made. Would buy again or give as a gift.

It actually does make a better cup of coffee

I wondered if a burr grinder would make a difference in the taste of my cup of coffee (vs a push button grinder) and… guess what, it totally DID. I was as surprised as anyone. I think it has something to do with the fact that all the grinds are evenly sized and you don’t have stragglers at the bottom of the filter. I’ve been using this grinder for about 6 months now and it is fantastic in several ways – 1) it’s not enormous on my countertop and it looks nice, 2) it fits a good amount of beans in the hopper (though not a full pound which would have been convenient), 3) it feels solid and durable, and 4) I love love love the fact that you can set it to a particular grind time and consistency. I get my water and my filter set up the night before and then I just press the button in the morning, toss the coffee into the filter and turn it on. So simple to have fresh ground coffee. Up until last year, I had been using a Jura automated machine and I thought you either needed to go through a lot of hassle or have a lot of automation to get a great cup of coffee, but my Jura broke and it was going to cost a gazillion dollars to fix it, so I decided to explore some “old school” coffee methods. I’ve played around with Hario & Chemex pour over, different grinders, etc. I’ve settled on this grinder with a Moccamaster coffee machine. I can have a great flipping cup of coffee in a couple of minutes with this setup. Grinding your coffee fresh using a burr grinder makes a big difference, and the Oxo makes it simple.

Two years later, still Much better than my last grinder, a definite

Ok, I just got this grinder today, so these are first impressions. I can’t speak to durability. Like many of you, I used to own a Cusinart DLC-8. I have basically decided that it was a piece of junk and I never knew it. The Coffee that came out off the grinder was all different sizes, it probably ground too fast for a small burr grinder. I bought one back in 2006, and again around 2013, and this year it just quit. So it was time to buy another. Or was it?I didn’t see why a coffee grinder should go bad so often. I was not using it past its duty cycle, it never got hot. My routine is that every couple of days I grind about 150 grams pic coffee, fine, to make 2 liters of cold brew coffee. I weigh the coffee, use ceramic pots with permanent filters, and give it overnight, stirring after at least an hour and perhaps as long as 3 hours. The bin on the Cusinart held just enough for two pots. So I’d grind until the bin was full and then start weighing coffee. The coffee I make at home is smooth, deep, strong, and far far better than any coffee I can buy at any shop. The Starbucks Nitro has some of the same characteristics but I would rather have what I make….because it just tastes better. I usually drink it black and iced, without sweetener or flavoring. But I thought that coffee was supposed to be broken up buy a home grinder, and that the inconsistent grind was what I had to put up with to get a fresh grind.Wow. I cleaned the new grinder, looked at how easy it was to disassemble, loaded it with beans, set it to fine and hit the button. The ground coffee was all in the bin. It waa all uniform. ALL THE COFFEE WAS FINELY GROUND. There were no hunks, there was no powder. The grinder was just quieter. It sounded like an ordinary kitchen appliance rather than an airplane launching from the counter.I realized, at that moment, that I had been using what was an inconsistent machine. This was the grinder I had always wanted. Other reviews had talked about getting better coffee because the coffee is not being heated so much. I can’t speak to that. My coffee from the DLC-8 was good. I think it was way harder to deal with because out was so inconsistent.Right now I’m ecstatic. If anything changes, I will post an update.I will say one thing. People are irritated because the grinder is not marked in cups. I ground some coffee on fine, it produced about 10 grams of fine coffee in 15 sec. When I changed it to medium coarse and ground for the same time, it produced a totally different amount of coffee. So it does not make any sense to make coffee that way. You need to calibrate your coffee and your fine or coarse grind to the number of seconds of grind you need. It seemed to be linear. And there are multiple warnings not to overkill the hopper. That is a real problem, but I am willing to watch the hopper so as not mess it up.Update: I bought this grinder in December 2018, and it is still going strong. I overfilled the hopper once and had to clean it out. But now my workflow is different. First, I remove the hopper and put it on my scale, using the hopper lid under the hopper to catch beans that might fall through. I weigh my dose into the hopper, put it back on the grinder and grind until the tone changes, then give the grinder a bit of a wiggle to knock any beans loose, and then I move the ground coffee to either my portafilter, cold brew jug, or V60.The retention does not seem that bad to me. I have gone to a coarser grind for filter coffee, and a finer grind for everything else (which violates the cold brew conventional wisdom). I am also using different kinds of coffee for different drinks, and I used to use one blend of coffee for everything. I think my coffee is a little fresher when I do this, that is, I don’t think the hopper is really suitable for storage of coffee for more than a day or so.I don’t know how good this grinder is. I know that the particles seem uniform to me, although I don’t have a sieve to test. I know that I never get frustrated by static, and I don’t feel the need of a little spray bottle. It is still quiet, although it really can’t be used when someone is on the phone. All in all, I still like this grinder after years, and I think it is way underrated.

    Excellent grinder. Only minor flaws.

(I am an ex professional barista.)CONS:-The grounds container doesn’t lock into place and will sometimes vibrate out during grinding. This is the only serious flaw with the product, and I feel it’s a minor one. I’ve gone through many of the reviews and it seems that it’s simply a matter of construction inconsistency. Most people’s containers “click” into place; a minority do not. I was just unlucky enough to get one of the ones that don’t.-You can’t remove the bottom burr to clean it. They really did do their best to make this easy to clean and I appreciate that you don’t have to undo a bunch of microscopic screws just to clean your burrs, but I really wish I could remove BOTH burrs to give them a thorough wipe-down. It’s difficult to clean the one that’s stuck inside the grinder. The other lifts out easily by a cute little handle.PROS:-High quality, consistent grind. The brewing methods I use most all hover around the medium grind range, so I haven’t really tested the extremes of coarse and fine. Can’t speak to those. But as far as the medium ranges, it grinds beautifully and consistently. That’s what matters in the end, right?-The beans feed very well, even for single dosing. Never an issue.-As mentioned above, the ability to clean the grinder is taken into account in the construction. No need to delicately deconstruct the whole thing and keep track of a bunch of itty bitty screws and springs. The top part of the grinder and the top burr simply turn-and-lift out, and then turn-and-lock back into place. So nice.-It’s aesthetically pleasing and takes up little room on the counter. All the materials have a quality feel.-It isn’t super noisy. All grinders are gonna make noise, to be sure, but as far as grinders go, this one has a pretty gentle sound. I’ve definitely used my fair share of grinders that made me feel like my brain was going to vibrate out of my skull, and this one has a polite hum by comparison.-The price for this level of quality is unbeatable. I can’t even believe I paid less than one hundred dollars for this. Real talk, folks: these are steel conical burrs. Solid construction. 40+ grind settings. Did I mention steel conical burrs? I never thought I would own something like this for less than $250. You cannot beat this price point/quality intersection. You just can’t. This grinder is price-meets-quality king.USAGE:You’re working with three variables: time, grind, and amount. There are two popular approaches to working out your dose.Method 1: You leave ‘amount’ as the open variable. With this method, you dump all your beans in the hopper and store them there. You then adjust grind and time until you’re getting the right dose at the right grind level.Method 2: You leave ‘time’ as the open variable. With this method, you only deposit the amount of beans you plan to use for each dose, adjust the grind as needed, and let it take whatever amount of time it takes. You’re adjusting the amount and the grind, rather than adjusting the grind and the time. (This is called “single dosing.”)Go to any coffee forum, and you’ll be pages of debate about which of these methods is superior. Honestly, you should use the method that feels best for YOU.The reason I bring it up here is because people seem anxious that Method #2 will damage the burrs over time, since you run them all the way to empty every time you grind. Here’s my take: I use Method #2, because I feel that the beans start to taste stale if left in the hopper. (Everyone’s tastebuds are different; there’s no right or wrong.) This means that I let the burrs run until I hear the sound change from a low growl to a high pitched growl, which indicates that the burrs are grinding empty, and then I manually stop the grind.I honestly don’t see any issue with this, and I don’t feel any anxiety about it. Think about it: if you’re cleaning the burrs between bean swaps, you’re letting them run for several seconds on empty anyway. Even the manufacturer instructions tell you to do this when cleaning the burrs! The only difference here is that instead of intentionally running them on empty for several seconds to clean them, you’re running them on empty for one single second every day/dose. I’d never recommend doing that on a fine espresso setting, but as long as you’re in the medium-to-coarse range, I don’t see any possible ways the burrs could damage each other. There’s no way the burrs are touching at that distance, regardless of variables like heat expanding the metal and other things coffee nerds like to debate about.I hope this review was helpful. I’ll update in a year to let you know if this grinder held up through daily use.

    Perfect Grinder for Daily Use

This coffee grinder has been a great addition to my morning routine. As the only coffee drinker in my household, I needed something compact, efficient, and versatile for my AeroPress—and this grinder checks all the boxes. It offers a nice range of grind settings, which comes in handy when I switch between AeroPress and a drip machine when guests are over.I also really appreciate the generous bean hopper—it saves me from constantly reloading. The only minor drawback is that the container that collects the grounds can vibrate out of place during use, potentially causing a bit of a mess. That said, since it only grinds for 10–20 seconds at a time, I don’t mind holding it in place. Overall, a solid, reliable grinder that I’d happily recommend

OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder – Size, Performance, and Cleanliness

The OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder in silver is an excellent choice for coffee lovers who value consistency and convenience. From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by its solid build and modern, clean design. It’s a medium-sized appliance that fits well on most countertops without taking up too much space. The grinder weighs around 4.5 pounds (just over 2 kg), making it sturdy enough to stay in place during use, yet still easy to move if needed. In terms of performance, the grinder delivers a consistent grind with minimal effort. Whether you’re using it for French press, drip coffee, or espresso, the 15 grind settings make it versatile and easy to adjust. The coffee grounds come out evenly sized, which greatly improves flavor extraction. One standout feature is the low dust level. Compared to other grinders I’ve used, the OXO Brew produces very little static or fine powder, which keeps the area cleaner and reduces mess. The sealed bean hopper also helps contain the coffee aroma nicely—there’s a pleasant, fresh coffee smell when grinding, but it doesn’t linger or overpower the space.Cleaning is fairly simple, and the container that holds the grounds is easy to remove and empty. Overall, this grinder balances quality, performance, and cleanliness extremely well. It’s a reliable option for anyone looking to upgrade their home brewing experience.

Reliable Burr Grinder – Great Performance & Easy to Clean

I bought this OXO Brew conical burr grinder back in February, and it’s been nothing but great. It grinds consistently and evenly every time, which has made a noticeable difference in how our coffee tastes. Whether I’m brewing a French press, pour-over, or using the drip machine, this grinder delivers a perfect grind. The settings are easy to adjust and give you plenty of control over grind size. I also love the design — it looks sleek on the counter and doesn’t take up too much space. The container for grounds holds a good amount, and it’s simple to remove and clean. One thing I was pleasantly surprised by is the noise level — it’s really not that loud at all, especially for a burr grinder. It’s powerful, but it doesn’t sound like a jet engine in the kitchen, which is a win in my book.Cleaning is also super simple. A quick brush-out is usually all it needs, and everything comes apart easily with no mess.Overall, it’s reliable, user-friendly, and performs like a higher-end machine without the crazy price tag. Highly recommend it if you’re looking to upgrade your coffee setup or finally invest in a quality burr grinder.

    Great, affordable, even burr grinder

My 10+ year old Encore began grinding eberything incredibly fine (we’re talking espresso level) regardless of the setting. I’ve cleaned it weekly for years, and finally decided the solution is either to pull it apart, buy parts, and replace them (something easy to do but costing about $100 in parts for the new burr and other items). I decided it was time to try the OXO while it was on sale for $90, and I’m really happy with the choice.I can easily see the complaints about the timer wiping off easily. I grind about 1oz for my pour-over, so at 20 seconds it runs with a little extra for cleaning, and I don’t think I’l touch it much.I was nervous about the height, but it turns out it’s the same height as my encore, and fits perfectly.Pros:- Effortless to use, and cleans itself out versus my Encore that always has some grinds left- Catch bucket gets everything without spilling on the counter when pulling out- Very large bean bin that I could grind 8 ounces for cold brew without refilling- Grind size is accurate for cold brew, espresso, Moka pot, and pour-over- Filling the top is great with a twist knob that makes sure beans won’t fall out when the bin is removed from the grinderCons:- Metal catch still keeps some of the grinds stuck to the size (though it’s better than plastic)- The numbers around the timer will definitely wipe off and I’m trying to figure out how to protect them- Directions are idiot proof, and really explain cleaning needs- As much as the bin is big, the directions make clear you shouldn’t leave beans in itI’m keeping the encore, since it’ll now be my backup, and someday I’ll replace the parts. But for now the OXO is doing great.

Best bang for the buck! Works just fine! Buy with confidence!

I’ve owned this grinder now for 2 months and love it! Truly grinds from fine to course grain with ease! I was using a built in grinder for my grind and brew coffee maker that is the blade type and this is a BIG upgrade!I want to address some things that I read in other’s reviews here that almost kept me from buying this grinder. First, it will grind any type of roasted bean….from dark to light and from flavored to not flavored without fail or issue. There were some saying that it clogs the grinder, etc. That is not 100% true if you do what I mention next….Secondly, this grinder needs to be cleaned after each use! I was used to doing this with my built in grind and brew coffee maker and honestly, it does not take that much more time to do. The conical grind component comes out and you are able to clean it with a toothbrush – that’s what I use for this part and the internal part. I do this after each use and I have not had any issues with it clogging up during grinding. I realize that some people don’t want to do this each day but if you do not do that, then I can totally see how it clogs up.Thirdly, some report that the cup that catches the ground coffee does not make good contact with the grinder and makes a mess. I’m not sure if there were some early models or different versions, but mine that I bought 2 months ago kind of snaps the cup in place which hold it tight to the spot where the grounds come out. No mess and definitely no issues with having to hold the cup in place.I think a lot of the issues reported by other reviews and users seem to point to not reading the instructions, not paying attention to how the grinder goes together and work, or is related to a version of this grinder that may have had it’s issues in the past. But for me and the version I got 2 months ago, this thing is solid and has been producing some great ground coffee for me and my family for 2 months now.By the way, if you are curious of the frequency…I grind and brew my coffee every weekday except for Friday morning – so 4 days out of a 7 day week.Make the purchase….you will not be disappointed! And follow some of what I shared around cleaning!
