Nicely made, usable…

Well, I didn’t know this french press’s carafe wasn’t made of glass until I read another review here. That both pleases me and gives me pause. Will the plastic scratch? Will the press look worn quickly? I have a glass-and-metal french press that still could pass for new after ten years of use. I hope this lasts and looks good for as long as that one….Cleaning is a bit easier than with my other carafe because the filter/press is one-piece with metal mesh permanently glued between two round plastic frames. There is an effective dual-silicon gasket around the circumference of the press to keep grounds in. My old coffee press has a metal screen that rises toward the outer edge where it’s held in place by a coil spring. Again, this new OXO press does a better job initially than the old one. The only question I have is whether it will last equally well.

Perfect!
I really love everything about this french press.OXO’s products are known to be easy to use and easy to hold. This french press is no exception. The handle is large and easy to grab making the pouring experience a breeze. 8 cups is the perfect size for you and a group of friends around the table and i love the open design where I can see myself pushing down the grinds.The press is also extremely durable! This is important to us as sometimes our toddler is knocking items off the counter. We’ve lost glass coffee items to falling and shattering, so it’s great not to worry about this one being a safety hazard or the item breaking.I’m really happy with this press as I always am with OXO items. The quality is always there and I wasn’t disappointed.

Dishwasher safe, Oxo brand!
You know that very, very short mental list we keep of brands that haven’t done us wrong yet? Well Oxo (not to be confused with the also good Mexican convenience store chain, OXXO) is on that list for me. I can’t think of anything I’ve used from them that hasn’t been at least decent, and from everything I’ve read, they’ll take care of you if something breaks.So what you’ve got here is a basic French press made by a good brand where everything fits together nicely and is made of decent materials that aren’t going to poison you. While a plastic carafe isn’t necessarily my first choice and I’m a sucker for nice glass stuff, it is indeed shatter resistant and BPA-free and food safe. Plus it’s something that should remain functional for a long time, so I can make my peace with it being primarily made of plastic.I didn’t notice it in the product description or anywhere on the box, but once you actually open the box and look at the instructions, it mentions that it’s dishwasher safe, which is nice. Not that it’s terribly difficult to rinse with hot water after each use, but it’s still nice to have. I’ve got it in my dishwasher right now actually, so unless I update this review stating that it spontaneously combusted in there or something, just assume all is well and the dishwasher safe claims are true.It’s a French press that does French press stuff, you can toss it in the dishwasher, it’s from a good brand, and it doesn’t cost a ton of money — sounds like a winning combo to me.

Amazing French Press – will take for home & camping!
I am so excited about the OXO Venture French Press!As a coffee lover who’s been making coffee at home with either a French Press or a little espresso maker for decades, this press has positively surprised me on many levels.I used to take my insulated stainless steel press with me on road trips but that’s just heavy and I can’t see how much coffee’s left in there which gets a little bit annoying when you make coffee for more than one person at a time. The OXO Venture is super lightweight and has clear “windows” which makes it incredibly convenient. I was originally worried that the carafe body would lose transparency but it’s still just as clear after almost two months of use. The material is super sturdy and durable. The manufacturer calls it “shatter-resistant” which I easily believe, yet didn’t want to put the press to the ultimate test. I am sure the occasion to test how shatter-proof it is will arise at some point during a camping trip…Love the size of the carafe as well, 8 cups is plenty for two coffee drinkers in the morning and no need to brew up another round. You can separate the body from the handle which facilitates cleaning after use. Another neat part of the press’s built is the silicon at the edges of the metal filter: no more grounds in the coffee!! I honestly haven’t had another press yet that would leave me with just coffee and no grounds, so what a pleasant surprise that was. The press leaves no weird taste, all you get is your mouth full of coffee, so no hesitations with regards to the material on my end.OXO also notes that the material is made from recycled plastics which is just another argument to fall in love with this product.I highly recommend the OXO Venture French Press to anybody who is looking for a good everyday press and/or something more durable to take with on adventures. Absolutely great product, I couldn’t be happier with it.

Nice French Press at a good price
I can’t live without my coffee in the morning but my coffee machine can be a little unreliable on occasion. It’s ridiculous but I now keep a backup coffee method in case it freaks out and I can’t get it back up and running. Normally I would just keep some cold brew ready to go but having a French press is so much better!I have had French presses in the past and they just felt…dinky and cheap. Eventually, they just broke. I love this one because it feels really solid and high quality. It has a good capacity but also a pretty small footprint to easily store.I do wish that the reservoir was glass rather than plastic but besides that, this is otherwise perfect.

Nice for tea, too
Used it to brew loose leaf tea. The double silicone gasket is great for making sure that almost everything gets pushed down, though very fine leaves still make it through. Those leaves still get trapped by the secondary filter on the spout, so the system still works as a whole.The tritan renew material is very interesting. It’s clear like glass, very thin, works with near boiling liquids, uses recycled content, BPA free, and is more durable than similar kind of glass. Very light. I’m normally leery of using plastic for such applications, but this is definitely an excellent, and at least on paper as well as my limited practice, superior alternative. It’ll be interesting to see how much it for example stains after long term use compared to glass, and I’ll be sure to update this review if it does, since I’ll keep on using this very nice French Press.

Another great OXO product
I love that it is NOT glass. It is very easy to use and clean. My clumsy wife shattered our previous glass French press. I have no worries this can withstand anything my wife throws at it.

Sturdy french press
This is a great starter and/or camping french press. It’s all BPA free plastic, so you don’t have to worry about the glass insert breaking. I’ve broken a few myself when washing dishes and that’s why I don’t buy french presses with them anymore. I had no issues with coffee grounds spill out, as the filter discs hugged the walls nicely. I’d say this size is good for 2-4 servings of coffee if it’s a small cup. Realistically it’s best for two people to have coffee in mugs with a little top off. This would be a great gift for those going off to college or wanting a starter french press. The down side to me is that this does’t have much heat insulation, so don’t wait to drink it after you press down.
Old and In the Way –
Improved version of a classic
The handle is now angled for easy and efficient carry. No, it’s not the best, most ground-free press out there, but it is light and very resistant to breaking. Makes great coffee and is perfect for vacation use. I have used the previous version for years, and it has accompanied me on camping and cabin “Up Nort'” trips, making good strong coffee for early mornings on quiet lakes.

Great French Press
This is my first French Press so I am no expert but this French press is made with typical OXO quality and attention to detail. Oxo is a trusted brand for all things kitchen related in our household. This French press is made of a durable BPA free plastic rather than glass which may turn off some purists but I didn’t see any issues with it. Plus it means you can lug it around anywhere and shove it into the cabinet to store without worrying about breaking it. The filter/plunger work well. I didn’t end up with any grounds in my cup. I like that the black plastic body leaves space for large windows on either side so you can see how your coffee is brewing. Overall, I am very happy with this French press.
