Perks fast!
I was excited to get this perculator, once I purchased it, and then immediately disappointed when opening the box and finding the lid smashed in. But Amazon made things right with a replacement (of course I still had to mail the old one back, which is an inconvenience) and finally, the second one arrived and was perfect! I read the manual and it said, “do not submerge perculator or power base in water”, which I totally understood. So I filled up the perculator with soapy water, wiped the insides down with a sponge, and then handwashed the lid, tube, basket and basket lid, rinsing everything well with clean water afterwards. Next step, fill perculator with water. I chose line 6 noted inside perculator, placed the tube and filter basket in place. Next, I put in a filter disc in bottom of basket and then put in the coffee into the basket. There are lines with numbers inside the basket, which is helpful and intended to coordinate with the number for the water. Curiosity got me, at this point, and I used my 2 tablespoon scoop and it took 3 scoops to come up to the 6 line on the basket. (Which ends up being 6 tablespoons). I then put the filter basket lid over the filter basket, finally placing the exterior lid with the glass knob securely in place on top of the perculator. Plugged in and the switch turned on at last, I sat and watched the first bubbles coming to the top of the glass knob, increasingly with a steady rhythm, which was fun to watch. Here is the best part – it went fast! I think it brewed just as quickly as with a regular coffee maker. On to taste – perfect! Mellow, right amount of coffee to water ratio, with no gross aftertaste like in my pladtic parts coffee maker. By the way, found mold in it 2 weeks ago, and that’s when I decided on this option. So what could be improved? Outside coffee indicator of level inside. What’s great? Don’t have to unplug to pour. Sits on heating pedestal, which is separate. It’s difficult to find that feature. Glass knob versus plastic? Honestly, I’m not sure if glass or plastic. Hard to tell, so it’s a moot point for me. I did have some grounds in my cup so I would like to find something beyond these discs that I need to research and start using. The directions also talk about cleaning the tube, washer and spout with brushes. I wish they would have included these brushes, so now I got to find them. You will need a straw brush for the tube, but a fuller brush for the pouring spout. Overall, I’m giving this 5 stars. Make the change to a healthier choice and buy a perculator. You won’t be disappointed!

Love this Coffee Pot!!!
Waited to write this until I used it for awhile. My family prefers perked coffee. The coffee brews to a smooth non bitter flavor. I used the guides on the brew basket for the amount of coffee used and tweaked it from there. Great taste every time. CLEAN UP. Since it is mostly made of stainless steel, cleanup is a breeze and doesn’t have the lingering taste or smell of previous pots.FAST. Perking is fast. A minute or less per cup made is consistent with literature provided.QUIET. Very very quiet. If I’m busy in the kitchen making a meal I forget it’s perking until I happen to glance over and see the green finished light.SAFETY. Ive been zapped by the power cords on previous units by accidentally plugging the cord into the outlet before the pot. The power pad the unit sits on prevents that. And I like that the pot and the pad are separate so coffee can be served without unplugging the pad.Just a few of the features I like. I love the European, 1940s type design and look in the kitchen. So cool.If you’re looking for a no frills percolator, this is the one to get.

For a coffee drinker who likes their coffee hot, this is the pot to get. It makes great coffee, and it’s easy to use and cleanup is a breeze, plus the price is very reasonable.

Quality Non-Toxic Coffee Option

I was looking for an all stainless steel coffee maker that didn’t allow piping hot water to go through plastic pieces. It had everything is was looking for:-Simple switch so I could set it up the night before then hit the switch in the morning.-Fast percolating- does a whole pot in about 8 mins.-Separate base- you can pour it separate from the base so the cord doesn’t interfere or keep you close to the wall to pour.-Keep warm feature allows plenty of time to drink my coffee.Other non-toxic options are so expensive and don’t have most of these features. Plus, it makes an amazing cup of coffee and is really easy to clean. The stainless steel design is sleek and doesn’t take up too much space. I would highly recommend!
